"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress AND TO KEEP ONESELF FROM BEING POLLUTED BY THE WORLD." James 1:27

This has been the verse the Lord gave us for our adoption, and I always wanted to leave the last part off. Each time I started to do that, I felt this nagging to go back and add it on, so I did. I have no doubt that the Lord placed the ENTIRE verse on my heart for our adoption because He knew that we would experience pollution during our process. He was trying to prepare us for what was to come.

14 Months ago, as we began our adoption journey in Haiti, we never imagined we would be sharing an update such as this. The Lord however knew this was going to happen. He knew that amidst the chaos, confusion, and grief, we would need an extra blessing along the way. He expanded our hearts by sending sweet Selah to us; she was like a kiss to us, directly from God. With her addition to our family, though, also came an increased longing for truth and justice for "our" kids in Haiti and a desperation that is impossible to explain.

God has placed a burning passion in our hearts and souls for His children. Selah did not take the place of our 3 kids in Haiti. God didn't say "it's either Selah OR Biance, Chenchise, and Jamesley." He loves them all, and they all deserve a family. It is very difficult for me to sleep at night knowing that Addi and Selah are tucked in and that the 3 babies that the Lord placed in our lives are still in Haiti without a family. We treasure them and the time we spent with them. Some might argue that it would be easier just to walk away, but we aren't looking for "easy." We realize that if we do not fight for them, there is a huge probability that nobody will.

Our update...
Instead of having our kids come home in the next 4-10 months (which is what would have happened had our case been treated as it should have been) we are instead begging and pleading with the "agency" and creche we signed with to give us PERTINENT INFORMATION on the children they referred to us, who they claimed were legally free for adoption. We are waiting on them to either return our dossier (the complete packet of papers that is absolutely necessary to begin an adoption in Haiti and took nearly 2 months and cost $6,000 to create) or send funds back in its place so we can create a new one. We are also waiting on them to answer basic questions and provide basic paperwork on "our" children so that we can have them transferred to a licensed creche and we can work with an approved agency. Basically we are waiting for them to follow through with all the promises they have already made to us. While we wait we are crying out to the Lord to do something for them, us, and the many other families affected in similar ways. We have already made trips to Haiti to meet with government officials to request permission to move forward with an adoption, and we had much favor with them. Before anything new can happen though, the kids' orphan status needs to be determined and they have to be transferred. With the creche unwilling to provide the proper documentation, this is very unlikely to happen.

We have chosen to stand up for truth and share our complete story although we will likely be punished for doing so. We hope that our openness prevents others from having this same experience. We have already led so many people astray in sending them to support the agency and creche we were partnered with; we truly feel guilty for this. We are praying and believing that the Lord is already working this out for his Glory. We pray for the children and families affected and those who have caused harm. We know the Lord is a lord of redemption and we literally cannot wait to see this whole situation redeemed.

Here is a link to our adoption story.  Many other families have shared theirs as well. As you read these, if you do, please pray for those affected. We can all use the prayers.
